Southampton MP Satvir Kaur has come out in support of the Highfield House illegal migrant hotel telling the Daily Echo in southampton that the city’s long history of welcoming people from around the world has made it vibrant and diverse. She emphasised that while peaceful protest is a right, hate and racism have no place in Southampton, which she described as a proud city of sanctuary. This seems to ignore the concerns of the local community that illegal migrants are housed in Southampton Hotels and allowed to walk the streets near churchs, schools and university.

Kaur said “Southampton has been welcoming people from around the world for centuries, it has made us who we are, vibrant, diverse, multi-skilled, resourceful, innovative and so much more.”

There seems to be a lack of understanding that the Southampton community doesnt want to feel unsafe. This is supported by statistics from the Centre for Migration control. A clear distinction from legal migration and illegal migration needs to be understood by those elected. Those coming without documentation and checks via illegal routes should not be walking around local communities with women and children.

The Daily Telegraph reports that, according to new analysis by the Centre for Migration Control, foreign nationals in England and Wales are more than three times as likely to be arrested for sexual offences as British citizens.

Data from 41 of 43 police forces show that over 9,000 foreign nationals were arrested for sexual offences in the first ten months of last year, accounting for roughly a quarter (26.1%) of an estimated 35,000 sexual offence arrests.

The analysis found an arrest rate of nearly 165 per 100,000 for foreign nationals, compared to 48 per 100,000 for British citizens. For all types of crime, foreign nationals were arrested at twice the rate of British citizens, making up 16.1% of total arrests while representing 9% of the population. The report noted that Albanians, Afghans, Iraqis, Algerians, and Somalians had the highest arrest rates among foreign nationalities.

The findings have led to claims of a lack of transparency over migrant crime statistics and calls for a public inquiry into related issues.
